Terms of sale

These terms apply when you buy from dawnchild.com. You are buying from Focal Point International LLC, 701 Tillery St, Unit 12-2475, Austin, TX 78702, United States, trading as Dawnchild Books. Contact: hello@dawnchild.com. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer.

How an order is made

You choose books and, for printed books, a delivery speed in the basket, which shows the total with delivery before you pay. You can change or remove anything in the basket until you press Continue to secure checkout; on Stripe’s page you check your details and pay. If we cannot accept your order, we refund it in full. Your order is accepted when we send the confirmation email, which sets out what you bought, the price, the delivery and how to cancel. We keep a record of your order and will send you a copy if you ask. Orders are made in English.

Prices and payment

Prices are shown in pounds or dollars and include any tax due at the point of sale. Delivery is the printer’s charge for your destination and chosen speed, shown in the basket before you pay. Payment is taken by Stripe on its secure page; your statement will read DAWNCHILD BOOKS.

Delivery

Printed books are made to order and, for now, delivered within the United Kingdom only; ebooks are available to readers abroad. The basket and your confirmation give the expected dates. If we cannot meet them we write with a new date and the option of a full refund. The books are yours, and at your risk, once they are delivered.

What we promise about the books

The books must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. If one is not, you have legal rights to a replacement or a refund, and we pay any postage.

Changing your mind: printed books

You can cancel an order for printed books at any time before it is delivered, and within 14 days of receiving the books, without giving a reason; we accept returns for thirty days from delivery. If you cancel before the books are posted, we refund everything, delivery included, within 14 days. Otherwise tell us at hello@dawnchild.com (you can use the form below, but you do not have to) and we give you a UK address to send the books to; send them within 14 days of telling us. We refund the books and the standard delivery charge within 14 days of receiving them back, or of your proof of posting if sooner. You pay the return postage unless the book is faulty, damaged or not what you ordered, in which case we pay it and send a replacement or a refund, whichever you prefer.

Cancellation form (complete and return only if you wish to cancel)

To Dawnchild Books, Focal Point International LLC, 701 Tillery St, Unit 12-2475, Austin, TX 78702, United States, hello@dawnchild.com: I hereby give notice that I cancel my contract for the following goods: [titles] · Ordered on / received on: [dates] · Order number: [number] · Name: [name] · Address: [address] · Signature (only if this form is sent on paper) · Date: [date]

Ebooks

Ebooks are EPUB files without copy protection, for your own devices; please do not pass them on. Your download link works for thirty days and up to eight downloads. At checkout you ask for the ebook straight away and acknowledge that the 14-day right to cancel ends once the link is sent; until it is sent you can cancel for a full refund. If a file is faulty we replace it or refund you.

Pre-orders

When a book is offered for pre-order, the page gives the expected month of dispatch. You pay at checkout, and you can cancel for a full refund at any time until the book is posted. If dispatch slips more than thirty days past the expected date, we write to you and you can cancel then for a full refund. Your 14-day right to cancel after delivery still applies.

Discount codes

Discount codes are applied in the basket before you pay, one to an order; if an offer is running at the same time, whichever saves you more is used. A code comes off the price of the books unless it says it covers shipping, in which case it covers Standard shipping and you pay the difference if you choose Express. Codes have no cash value, cannot be added to an order after it is placed, and may carry an end date, a minimum spend or a limit on uses, which the basket tells you when you apply one. If you return books bought with a code, the refund is what you paid.

If something goes wrong

Write to hello@dawnchild.com; we answer within two working days and put it right as quickly as we can. We are responsible for loss that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to take reasonable care; we are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom or in the European Union, you keep the protection of the law where you live and can bring a claim in your local courts.
