The shop's promises
Shipping and returns
Printed books are currently delivered within the United Kingdom only, printed to order and sent tracked. Standard leaves the printer in about seven working days; choose Express and it leaves in about four, by the quickest tracked service. Shipping is the printer's own charge for your basket and speed, and we add nothing to it. Readers abroad can buy ebooks, delivered by email with no postage.
What one paperback of The Dawnchild costs to send
| Destination | Standard, tracked | Express, tracked |
|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | £4.57arrives in 8–11 working days | £11.65arrives in 5–6 working days |
The printer's own prices and dates as quoted on 20 October 2026, counted from the day you order. More books cost a little more to send; the basket works out the exact charge for UK delivery and your chosen speed before you pay, and that is what you are charged.
How an order travels
- You order. The confirmation email gives the expected dispatch date.
- The book is printed. Standard orders leave the printer in about seven working days, Express in about four; nothing sits in a warehouse.
- It is posted. Another email tells you it has gone, with the tracking number where the service has one.
- It arrives. If it has not come within the usual time and a week more, write to us. We send another or refund you, whichever you prefer.
Books not yet published
A forthcoming book cannot be ordered yet. Its page offers the letter instead: at most five a year, with first word on the day it can be ordered.
To change the address on an order, write to us before the dispatch email arrives. After that the parcel is with the carrier.
Returns
Thirty days from delivery, for any reason. Write to hello@dawnchild.com with your order number and we tell you where to send the book. Once it reaches us the refund goes back to the card you paid with. If the fault is ours, a misprint, a damaged copy, the wrong format, we pay the return postage and send a replacement or a refund, whichever you prefer.
Ebooks: at checkout you ask for the file straight away, and your 14-day right to cancel the ebook ends once its download link is sent. Until then you can cancel for a full refund, and a faulty file is always replaced or refunded.
Damaged in the post
Send us a photograph of the damage and the packaging. We send another copy at once and do not ask for the damaged one back unless the printer needs to see it.
Readers outside the UK
Ebooks can be bought from abroad and arrive by email. International print delivery is not available in the online shop at launch. To register interest in a print edition for your country, write to hello@dawnchild.com; we will tell you when there is an option to order.
Packing
Books are packed to arrive as they left the press, with no invoice or price inside the parcel. If you are sending a book as a present, give us the address and it goes straight there.
