Ask the archive. Every answer leads back to the page.
A demonstration on the three books on this list that are in print, The Dawnchild, Daffy Goes to Sea and Good Food, with their forewords and this site’s notes on the books and their authors. Ask in plain words. The answer is short, and under it are the passages it came from.

What you are looking at
The books were split into passages and indexed. A question finds the passages that match, and a language model running on our own server writes a short answer from those passages only, citing each one by number. Nothing is fetched from the open internet, and nothing you type is sent anywhere else.
When the archive does not hold the answer, it says so. That is the point: a search that cannot show its source does not get to speak.
Who made this
The search was built by Newington Press, the studio that makes our books, which makes the same kind of search for societies and archives.
