Readers' memories
Do you remember one of these books?
If you had one as a child, or your mother or grandmother did, we would like to know who gave it, when, and what it was like to read. The memories go into the notes on the books, and with your leave the best are quoted on the book's page under a first name.
Memories so far
Readers’ memories are quoted with the writer’s permission, under a first name; a public figure’s words are quoted from where they were published. The newest go at the top.
The Dawnchild, 1926
“A truly amazing fantasy story.” The copy she read as a child had been her mother’s, and she named it among her favourite books in an interview on her own website.
Vivian French, children’s author

What happens to it
A person reads it, not a machine. If you asked a question or left an address, you get a reply within two working days. Nothing is published without the box ticked, and never more than a first name.
Memories that tell us something about a book's history, a prize label, a date, a shop, a reading aloud, are the ones we most want.
If you hold an early copy, a drawing or a letter connected with any of our authors, say so here or write to hello@dawnchild.com.
